TORONTO (AP) - Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei is expected to be out for eight to 10 weeks after breaking his left leg in a training accident.
Frei was hurt Friday morning during a wet training game at BMO Field.
Frei, who has been battling Milos Kocic for the starting job, appeared to catch his leg in the grass while going after a ball.
The team says Frei suffered a broken fibula and will undergo an MRI next week to determine whether surgery is needed.
The injury came six days after captain Torsten Frings strained his hamstring during a season-opening loss in Seattle.
Kocic is expected to start Saturday's game against the visiting San Jose Earthquakes.
